• Ensuring they have been assessed by a registered Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist
  • Checking equipment is in good working order
  • Encouraging the use prescribed equipment
  • Offering prompting to use equipment safely and effectively
  • Providing the opportunity for regular walking and transfer practice
  • Recognise when people are too tired for the physical manoeuvre
  • Encourage rest periods
  • Take additional health problems into consideration e.g. have they been unwell or injured recently
  • Ensure seat height is not too low
  • Ensure walk ways are clear of obstacles/ clutter.
